Around the Vauban Citadel
Built by Vauban at the end of the seventeenth century, the Lille citadel is nicknamed the Queen of citadels. It is wrapped in the Bois de Boulogne, a large walking park with a pond, bridle paths and a playground. Locals come at the weekend to run, picnic or hire a pedal boat. On a Sunday morning, the full loop on foot leaves all the time you need to get to know each other, without checking the clock.
Along the Deûle and the Vauban Garden
The Deûle canal runs through the city and continues the walk towards the marina and the renewed Rives de la Haute Deûle district. Across from the woods, the small Vauban Garden, with its puppet theatre and bright flower beds, offers a tender setting for an afternoon date. A coffee on a terrace, a few steps along the paths, and conversation unfolds naturally in the northern light.
Zoo, Deûle Park and Jean-Baptiste Lebas
Nearby, Lille Zoo, free for part of the year, is a familiar outing for new couples: you laugh, comment, share stories. Further south, the Parc de la Deûle in Santes invites bike rides. In the city centre, Parc Jean-Baptiste Lebas hosts summer concerts and markets. On Lyad, singles from Lille share their favourite green routes; it is up to you to pick your first meeting place.
